Andrew qualified as a Chartered Management Accountant at Midland Bank/HSBC, holding a key role in the Capital Financing team. He joined Credit Suisse in 1996 initially as FD of Operations and IT services, subsequently moving to Zurich as head of finance of the Investment Banking arm. Since 2002 Andrew has held a number of CFO roles, not only in marketing services but also across retail, IT and manufacturing. A business planning specialist, he has undertaken change programmes expanding, restructuring and exiting businesses including the restructure of the marketing services business Broad System and its sale to Skipton Building Society. In 2010 he led the sale of a Mash Up Server software company to Telephonetics plc, and has recently co-led a MBI of the cloud based software developer, Castrum. Andrew joining Green Square restores his working partnership with Tony Walford when they were both at HSBC and he brings a wealth of practical and strategic input in advising and executing transactions.
Roger has specific sector experience in media, marketing services, entertainment and sports as well as across digital platforms having held CFO and CEO roles within WPP, EMI, James Capel, Alchemy Partners and the Scottish Premier League. Roger is a chartered accountant and investment banker and has studied at London Business School and Insead. He has raised and managed capital in the public and private markets, including one of the first IPOs for a Chinese company on AIM, and sits on the board of Vipera plc, the AIM listed mobile financial services platform. Based in Lugano, Switzerland with his home near Milan, Roger is Green Square’s international partner.
Thomas has extensive operational experience in the technology and communications sectors, with leadership roles at First Telecom plc and the mobile operating systems provider Symbian. As CFO of Symbian Thomas played a crucial role in its growth and subsequent sale to Nokia and as CFO of Robert Walters plc he listed the business on the London Stock Exchange. He has a wealth of corporate finance knowledge, not only gained from his operational roles, but also having spent six years at investment bank Dresdner Kleinwort Benson. Thomas' success has been recognised through a number of accolades including the Queen's Award for Enterprise, on behalf of Symbian, and being awarded Accountancy Age Growing Business Finance Director of the Year. Thomas is a Chartered Accountant, having qualified at PwC, a Chartered Corporate Treasurer, and non-executive director at SPARK VCT plc. He joined the Advisory Board of Green Square in January 2011.
Katy qualified as a Chartered Accountant at KPMG within the Information, Communication and Entertainment business unit. She left KPMG to focus on a career within the media sector, initially as Financial Director of post-production facilities group Frontline and corporate production company Barford. Katy subsequently moved into the marketing communications sector with senior financial roles at private equity backed direct marketing group Hawkeye Communications and global sales promotion agency Creata. In a brief sojourn from the marketing sector, she also worked with a portfolio of start-ups within the sports and retail sectors. Katy then moved to Results International, where she managed successful sale transactions across PR, data, digital and brand consultancy, before joining Green Square in October 2008.
Ian is widely recognised as one of the UK's leading entrepreneurs in the interactive entertainment market. In recognition of his stellar career in the games industry, he was awarded an OBE for Services to the Computer Games Industry and holds a BAFTA Interactive Entertainment Award for his outstanding contribution to the community. He started his career by co-founding the manufacturer and retail chain Games Workshop, launching the Dungeons and Dragons products in Europe. Having authored a number of successful gaming publications, including the Dungeons and Dragons series, he subsequently moved into computer gaming, investing in Domark, one of the first UK computer games publishers. This company was later acquired by Eidos plc, forming the pillar of Eidos Interactive. Whilst at Eidos Ian secured both the Lara Croft: Tomb Raider and Hitman franchises. Ian is Life President of Eidos and holds a number of advisory roles to leading government and public bodies focused on the development of the computer gaming industry. Ian joined the Advisory Board of Green Square in January 2011
Phil has over thirty years of experience within the digital and design industry. Having founded typography specialists APT in the 1970s, he subsequently grew and sold the business before becoming MD of pioneering digital agency Realtime. Following the merger of the agency with direct marketing specialist EHS, he became Vice Chairman of the combined agency ehsrealtime (now EHS Brann). Since leaving the agency in 2004, Phil has held a range of non-executive and personal mentoring roles within the industry. He is also the founder of the perennially popular Podge lunches which play host to the leading lights of the design, digital and sports industries within the UK and beyond. A recipient of numerous accolades himself during his career, Phil is Chairman of the Judges at the DADI Awards. Phil joined the Advisory Board of Green Square in December 2009.
